New Woodberry Page

An Apple Distinguished School, Woodberry Down Primary is one of three primary schools that form the New Wave Federation. Grazebrook and Shacklewell Primary Schools have worked in partnership since 2010, with Woodberry Down joining the group in 2014. The partnership has gone from strength to strength with New Wave Federation becoming formalised in March 2016. The schools gain many benefits from working collaboratively by making the most of their shared resources and expertise.

The core purpose of New Wave Federation is to provide the best educational experience for every child together while ensuring outstanding achievement. This is be achieved by engaging in learning opportunities that develop, stretch and excite pupil’s imagination by sparking their curiosity.

As a leader of education my team and I are passionate about sharing our innovative teaching and learning techniques and practices. I am proud of the achievements of the New Wave Federation. I believe that working in partnership with Polka Dot Planning has allowed that sharing process to be made effective and efficient supporting us to deliver our message of “Excellence for All” onto an international platform.”

Michelle Thomas, Executive Head Teacher

Woodberry Down Primary School is proud to serve a very diverse and multicultural community. The pupils bring with them an array of experiences and knowledge. Ours is a school where pupils thrive in a positive and harmonious atmosphere that contributes very well to their personal, social and emotional development. Our pupils are wonderful ambassadors for our school; they are articulate, keen and enthusiastic learners who enjoy the challenges presented to them.
Like its sister schools, Woodberry Down Primary School believes wholeheartedly that technology is the key to opening a world of opportunity, removing the boundaries created by the walls of the classroom and eradicating the constraints of school desks. New Wave considers iPad and such technologies as tools which offer choice and freedom that more traditional learning tools do not. We strive to take learning to new heights and iPad allows this to happen.
We passionately believe that all of our children have the right to learn in an environment which stimulates the imagination not only inspiring the mind but nurturing creativity and cultivating curiosity. The way in which our staff use iPad, Apps and other technologies encourages problem solving and challenges creativity, presenting learning in a new light.
We are proud to be the only school in the UK which can boast a visit from Tim Cook (Apple CEO). His visit in February 2017 demonstrates our achievements in learning with technology.
